Mt Keilir is a cone-shaped mountain that lies just off the road between ReykjavÝk and KeflavÝk. To reach it you turn off the main road at the sign "Keilir" and follow the gravel road until you reach a sign with a map.

Keilir is not a high mountain, only 379m, but the views from the top are great, especially on a clear day. To get there you have to hike quite a distance from the car park through lovely lava fields.

In August you should keep an open eye for the fresh blue-berries that grow in shelter of the lava.
