Cuba Things to Do: 396 reviews and 710 photos

Old Havana was founded in 1519. It presently consists of two-hundred and fourteen hectares of land which are inhabited by over 70,600 people. These people live in over 22,000 dwellings, most of which are apartments and tenant buildings or solares. In 1982, Old Havana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of it's important historical, cultural and
social values.

While in Old Havana there are five main plazas to visit: the Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza Nueva, Plaza del Cristo and the Plaza de la Catedral. Each of these plazas holds it's own historical background.
