Berlin has an excellent public transportation system with a virety of bus, tram, S Bahn (above ground) and U Bahn (underground) routes. I have used the S Bahn and U Bahn the most and find them both very easy to use and safe to ride. A day pass can be purchaesd for 12DM in addition to several other pass options.
