Favorite thing: It's basically a big bicycle wheel, the work of British engineer Walter Bassett, who supervised its construction in 1898. The Risenrad was created for Emperor Franz Joseph's 50th Anniversary on the throne: pleasing the plebians with the thrills of modern technology. (Empress Elizabeth - "Sisi" - was assassinated in September 1898, but the celebrations went on anyway!)

Address: Giant Ferris Wheel & recreation park
