"The Gazette Printing Office" Morrisburg Things to Do Tip by janika

The Gazette Printing Office is very unique in it's own way. if you have never seen a printing office before, you might be surprised of what you'll see in here. Don't imagine a shop full of printers, like the Xerox room at your work! Everything was done by hand and each & every letter had to be put together on large printing plates every single day.
The apprenticeship in the office was four years and the student's parents received a dollar per week after their son's work.
You will see folks working inside and assembling articles by using metal letter heads.
"Visitors to Upper Canada Village can take the opportunity to visit the Gazette Printing Office and see traditional printing activities and to read the local (Gazette) which reflects the life and times of the 1860s. "
Do NOT touch anything in there! Chances are you get stained with ink and the park will not pay for your damages!
Directions: At Upper Canada Village park
