Still one of our favorite places for special occasions- we had our family pre-wedding dinner here. They were so nice and presented us with a copy of the evening's menu as a souvenir.

The restaurant which is designed in the Prairie style of architecture made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright, sits in front of a pond in the middle of Lincoln Park. The building was once a warming house for ice skaters on the pond. Inside the restaurant, the space is classy and comfortable, with hardwood floors, crisp linen tablecloths and rich wood accents.

Recent renovations added a room with a stone hearth and nine-foot glass French doors (swung open in summer). There is also a new second floor. In winter, there's no cozier spot than a table by the copper-accented fireplace.

Favorite Dish: Chef Bruce Sherman forges close relationships with local farmers and artisans for fresh, seasonal ingredients. Everything - from the onion soup to the lamb - was out of this world. One of my favorites is the farm egg appetizer. They even bring out palate cleansers between courses. For dessert, as it was my birthday, they brought the chocolate cake with "Happy Birthday Traci" written in chocolate on the plate.

The wine list consists mainly of American labels, with an emphasis on smaller wineries.

Reservations are available on Opentable. Parking is difficult (it is zoned) so it is best to valet your car or take a taxi.
