"Take a harbor cruise" Portland Things to Do Tip by kooka3

Portland Things to Do: 107 reviews and 180 photos

There are about a kazillion cruises to choose from. However, unless you have a lot of time and you're really into spending hours on a boat that isn't a theme cruise (although you can find some of those out of Portland, too), I would recommend the lunchtime cruise.

This is a 45 minute lunchtime cruise offered at 12:10. It's perfect - long enough to see some of the harbor and get some of the history of the area, but not long enough to get bored. There are several forts dotted around the harbor.

You can buy your ticket up to the time of boarding. The ticket counter and boarding ramp are right next to a bar and restaurant. If you' re early, sit and have a beer on shore as you're waiting to board. They also serve meals - everything from fries to lobster.

Best of all - it's only $3.

Directions: Right on the main street along the water. I can't remember the name of the company, but they had a big blackboard on the sidewalk advertising the cruise.
