"Museum Moderner Kunst - Modern Art Museum" Mumok - Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien Tip by yooperprof

  A cube of art?
by yooperprof

The Museum Moderner Kunst (or MUMOK, as it is sometimes known) is one of the key attractions in the MQ. This is Vienna's version of MOMA or Guggenheim in New York City - a museum devoted to the challenging, bewildering, inspirational, and sometimes just plain weird world of contemporary art. In this art-rich city, MUMOK is the place to go to see both some of the big names in twentieth century art, as well as individuals and movements of importance over the last generation. Works by Picasso and Warhol are here, and there are exhibits concerning "Vienna Actionism" and "Fluxus", two of the most important international artistic movements to come out of central Europe since Jugenstil.

Address: Museumsplatz - MQ
Directions: Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 7 pm; Thursdays are "late evenings" and the museum is open until 9 pm
Phone: +43 1 525000
