The dining room features clean, minimalist decor. Exposed brick and unadorned crimson walls, soft globe lighting, and ambient music set a relaxed, urban-chic air. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable, taking care to explain the intricacies of Korean food to newbies. The manager/ owner, Peter, is very gracious. In 2002, Jin Ju was voted best new restaurant by Chicago Magazine.

The back area is currently being redesigned to accommodate a club area for after hours lounging.

Favorite Dish: This contemporary Korean eatery puts a new twist on traditional dishes. Modern presentation, a Westernized menu and scaled-down selections offer approachable appeal.

Here is a sampling of some of my favorites:
Pajun: lightly fried scallion pancake served with a soy sauce vinaigrette dipping sauce $6
Mandoo: dumplings filled with beef, onions, scallions, bean sprouts and tofu served fried or steamed $6
Bi Bim Bap: rice topped with beef, bean sprouts, spinach, carrots, shiitake mushrooms, shredded radish, fried egg and a spicy red pepper paste sauce, soy bean paste soup served on the side $13
Bulgogi: thinly sliced beef marinated in a mild soy sauce and sauteed with onions, shiitake mushrooms, carrots and scallions $14
Chop Chae: clear vermicilli noodles sauteed with soy sauce and sesame oil topped with beef sirloin, spinach, roasted red peppers, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, onions and scallions $12

They also have plenty of chicken choices and can make most dishes vegetarian. Be sure to start off with one of their delicious martinis - I love the Key Lime Pie tini.
