  Funchal - Santa Catarina Chapel
by salinhopt

Built during the 17th century on the orders of Constança Rodrigues, the wife of João Gonçalves Zarco. In the same spot another chapel from the Manueline period was later built here too. Nowadays we can still see a holy water font with maritime symbols Santa Catarina engraved on it. The chapel we see today dates from the 17th century
