"Walk the avenues!" Walking - Skating Tip by amirguy

Walking - Skating, New York City: 25 reviews and 39 photos

  First Avenue, Manhattan
by amirguy

The real "Must Do" when in the city is WALKING. This is a city made for walking (I'm focusing on Manhattan here), if you really want to experience it, this is the only way.
My real recommendation here is to open your eyes when walking. This is a city of concrete canyons, as you see in this pic, BUT every avenue has a different character and flavor. For example, 1'ST and Second Avenues are very different from Madison and 5'Th avenues. First and Second avenues offer lots of restaurants and local flavors, while Madison and Fifth are the Mecca of exclusive shopping and large Corporations experience shops.
