Restaurante El Chino: "Very cheap, clean, and central" Mexico City Restaurant Tip by PeteBrown444

Mexican hotels do beds. They often don't do bed and breakfast, or late dinners. El Chino is in 5 de Mayo, right off the Zocalo, (on the extreme Left as you face the cathedral). Real orange juice...simple, honest food, (all the clientele are locals), and nice, cheerful girls waiting on the tables. Leave them a tip, they don't earn very much.

Favorite Dish: Decent food. Unpretentious. Try this... ask for Una tequate (local beer) , with a slice of lemon. Squeeze the lemon onto the lid of the can. Add a little salt to that lemon juice, then pop the can. Pour into the mouth...savour the tang of fresh lemon juice in that first swig. Appreciate. Life is good. (Reduces your chances of getting scurvy as well.)
