"When swimming in the sea..." Portugal Warnings Or Dangers Tip by lupine

Portugal Warnings and Dangers: 65 reviews and 60 photos

If you go for a dip in the sea, watch out for any areas that are roped off for, say, water skiing, not only because, in case you miss the ropes, you could end up being run over, but also incase you DON'T miss the ropes!
I had a very bad experience when I came up agaisnt one whilst in a large rubber tyre. Because the direction of the waves was pushing me into the rope and I couldn't get out of the ring without going underwater (which I was scared of doing just in case i got even more tangled in the rope) the METAL rope was carving a line into my side and lower abdomen. It hurt like hell and my sister had to rescue me. I had a red line across there for the rest of my holiday!
I hadn't seen the rope because a) it was a grey rope underwater, and b) it didn't have any bouys or warnings attatched to it, so keep an eye out!!
