the Hooverdam is not in Las Vegas it is about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas (boulder city).
if you want to visit the Hooverdam you have to go through a scanner. you cannot bring bags inside. we had only a small camerabag.
it is very hot. (we were here 2 june 2003)
During summer months it is recommended that you wear light clothing and a hat, use sun screen and sun glasses, and carry water bottles on the tour. (Food, chewing gum, canned drinks and drinks in cups are NOT allowed on tour or in the buildings.)

The Hoover Dam Visitor Center is open every day of the year except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. All times are for the Pacific time zone.
Parking fee: $5.00.
Adults (Ages 17-61) $10.00
Seniors (62+) $8.00
Juniors (Ages 7-16) $4.00
Military and Dependents (Adults & Seniors) $8.00
Children (Ages 0-6) Free

Directions: The dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on U.S. Highway 93 at the Nevada-Arizona border.
From Las Vegas go southeast on I-515. I-515 turns into US-93, so just continue on until you reach the dam.
