  • Georgetown, on Mc Cartney Island - The Gambia

Georgetown was in the colonial time an important administrative centre. Georgetown was in these past the second British settlement. Now is Georgetown -with 3.000 inhabitants- tranquil with a very pleasant atmosphere and not many tourists around.

Georgetown is situated on the norther edge of Mc Cartney Island. You have to take the ferry-boat to go there.

Address: Georgetown
Directions: 300 KM east of Banjul at the south bank of the River Gambia

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
