The Zoo was built on 12th July 1936, on initiative of the mayor of that time, Mr. Vlada Ilic. The garden had exceptional specimen, but during the German air strikes in period from 1941 to 1944 many of the animals were killed. When Mr. Vuk Bojovic became the manager of the Zoo, it became ?The Garden of Good Hope? and an exceptional frequented place. In the Zoo there are more than 2,000 animals and 200 species, some of which are quite rare.
Also, there is fast food restaurant, ice cream and ZOO shop.
ZOO is opened every day from down to sunset.
Sami was the most popular "citizen" of the ZOO. He escaped twice from it and both time they hardly cought him. Unfortunately, he died.
