When in Brussels, don't limit yourself to the Grand-Place.

If possible, skip the Atomium. It is in my must-see activity but there are alternatives (see in my Must see tip why). To have a superb view on Brussels, either go to the top of MIM museum (see another offbeat tips for that), go on top of the arches of 50aire park (Jubelpark in Flemish) either elevate yourself...

Take the elevator at Place Poelaert... On its way up, of course, from Rue de l'épée :-)).. Or way down, from Place Poelaert, then up :-))

As it hoists up in the air, you will be granted with one of greatest views on Brussels. At more than 60m above soil, it gives a view on neighbouring modest housing area (the Marolles) so does the place Poelaert. In fact, there is more than that...

For me, the most interesting part of the ride is seeing landscape revealed bit by bit as elevator hoists up in the air. First a view on the houses then it will widen, widen, widen... Then at far, the skyline and this panoramic view... Spot the Atomium, Koekelberg Basilica, Belgacom hotballoon and the neighbouring towers of North station area. It was so cool that I asked Dannie whether we could have a second ride. Then I hadn't done, rather enjoyed the view, pensive...

Interesting view on nearly all Brussels landmarks, the nearest one being Palais de Justice, of course. But you don't have to take the elevator to see it.

And above all, it's free.
