  the Little Church
by tini58de

The Little Church's predecessor, built between 1719 and 1721, was constructed entirely of wood and quickly grew to such a poor state of repair that it had to be rebuilt after just a matter of decades.

The church to replace it was built by the architect Wilhelm Jeremias Mýller from 1773 to 1776. It was built of red sandstone in the Louis-XVI-style for the reformist community. It is now the oldest church in Karlsruhe.

Almost half of the church was destroyed in an air raid in September 1944. Work on reconstructing the church began in 1946. The first service in the newly erected church was held in November 1949. Initial interior renovation work was begun in 1995 and finished in July 1996.
