Ségou is a large town on the south bank of the Niger River. Ségou has the atmosphere of the former French West African towns, because of the many big trees along the main streets and the several large old buildings.

It's nice and very relaxed to walk around. But I liked it also to sit at the riverside and look at everydays life, like the washing of the laundry.

And especially at this place it's a good moment to remind the history of this area narrated in the epic ''Ségou, les murailles de terre'' and ''Ségou, la terre in miettes'' of Maryse Conde.

Address: Ségou
Directions: 230 KM east of Bamako.

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
