"The Red Fort (Old Dehli)" Red Fort Tip by PCuk

Red Fort, Delhi: 121 reviews and 295 photos

High on your list must be The Red Fort.
This was our first real experience of Dehli...and what an introduction.
As you arrive you will be accosted from all angles by sellers, beggers, snakes in baskets, families wanting you in their photos..be prepared (and say NO! a lot) and you can get through it.
When you get to the entrance, there was a "so called" security check..then youre finally in there (only to be confronted by would be tour guides..dont be put off them totally we took one and were very impressed with his knowledge for a very small amount of rupees)
When inside the fort is truely amazing and if your guide is expressive he can paint a picture of Mughal power, grand architecture that was coated in gold, fountains of rose water, canopied thrones, bejewelled walls as well elephants, dancing girls and opulence.
The whole area will take you about 1-2 hours to see...enjoy!

Directions: Near Chandni Chowk..open all day and often at night for son-et-lumiere.Fee for entry (free on Fri)
