Sentosa means peace and tranquility in Malay. The island was developed into a holiday resort in 1972. Before that it was a fishing village and a British military fortress.

Sentosa is Singapore's island resort getaway situated just 15 minutes from the city. Sentosa has a 3,2 kilometres of white sand beach. If you want to enjoy a beachfront accomodation then you have to go to Sentosa.

There were a monorail going around the island but it has stopped its service on 16 March 2005. The service was stopped due to the island's redevelopment plans. There is going to be a new system which will operate by the end of 2006. I liked the old monorail. It was quite exciting and easy to get around the island by monorail.

We visited Underwater World and it was ok but nothing special really. There are many

I think the beaches are the best thing in Sentosa. Everything else is quite touristy.

Address: Sentosa
Directions: We went there by Sentosa bus from HarbourFront Centre Bus Terminal. Tickets are S$3/person (including the admission to the island and the transportation)
