The Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay was opened on the 12 October 2002. It is the new international venue for performing arts.

Spread across 6 hectares of waterfront land, the theatres cost SGD600m. The two 'spike' glass shells of the Esplanade resemble two halves of the durian--a prickly fruit beloved by Singaporeans.

Don't miss the performing arts library and the art-centric shopping center as well.
