Jan Hus was a reform-minded prelate at Charles University, but in 1415, the not-all-that-reform-minded Catholic church burned him at the stake. His followers, the Hussites, became a major force in the region and helped pave the way for the Lutheran Reformation. This statue of Hus sits in the middle of Staromestske namesti. He's a bit stern-looking, but he makes for an excellent place to sit or meet friends.
