Diorama, American Museum of Natural History

New York City's The American Museum of Natural History is one of the best of its kind in the world. This place is huge and there is something here that will please just about anybody in the family. Probably most notable is the dinosaur halls where the magnificent collection of bones is spellbinding. There are films explaining evolutionary history and all sorts of interactive exhibits. I personally found the Hall of Ocean Life especially interesting with its excellent dioramas. There are more such dioramas exhibiting other forms of animal life from around the globe while others concern human cultural developments.
During my visit I was content to visit only the exhibits that I have just mentioned but there is much more to see such as the IMAX theatre which shows interesting topical films. There is also the Rose Center for Earth and Space which was not open when I visited so I know not too much about it from experience. Apparently it is a sky show in a planetarium set up narrated by Harrison Ford. Overall the place is both fun and very educational and a must see if you are traveling to New York with children.
