The Potala Palace, the landmark of Lhasa, high above the city, it is not easy to miss...
Potala means "Buddha's mountain" and to go in you have to climb first a lot. At the time of my visit many parts of the palace were closed, but there was more than enough left to see, to experience and to feel the atmosphere. It was rather overwhelming, like the meditationhalls, the chapels, the shrines, the mausoleums, the statues, the wallpaintings .... and everywhere the smell of the burning yakbutter.

For more information about Lhasa look at my Lhasa page.
