  The church

Many churches in this part of Slovenia (we call it "Oberkrain" in german) and in the south part of Austria (Carinthia) look very similar. The explaination is that Austria and Slovenia was ONE country once (during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy) and so the border didn't exist and many architects build their buildings at both sides ..

But then the two world wars came and they devided not only the area, but also the people. Austria became a little country and Slovenia became part of Jugoslavia and communism. But in 1989 the wind of change hit Slovenia and now they are liberal country and Austria and Slovenia grow more and more together.

It is common to speak a little bit slovenian in Carinthia (there live also many slovenians) ... and in Slovenia more and more people speak perfect german (also because of the many austrian und german tourists). So they grow together and coming soon (due to the fact that Slovenia will join the EU soon) it will be like in former days again ...

I am looking forward to it!
