"On foot" Venice Transportation Tip by Britta

Venice Transportation: 673 reviews and 949 photos

Walk Venice, it is the best way to do it. Ladies wear flat shoes because cobblestone streets can be death to your ankles if you where heels. Venice is made for walking, it's flat and fairly small so you get around pretty easy. As long as you have a general idea of where all the major squares are (ie San Marco) then you can pretty much find your way around. Look for spray painted names of squares with arrows. If there are two arrows that point in opposite directions, it just means that you have to go around the building that the spray painted sign is on.
