One of the finest short walks in Yosemite is the trail up to Vernal Fall (also known as the "Mist Trail"), and if you have more time and want to escape the crowds you can head on to Nevada Fall. OK, you will not be the only one doing this trail, but the walk is never dull, walking through a steep valley towards the falls that are thundering down in the back of the valley. My only problem with this walk was, that we needed to head back into the same direction, unless we would have wanted to continue all the way along the John Muir Trail that heads over 200 miles south to the summit of Mount Whitney. That is something that I will do when I return....

Directions: The start of this trail is at Happy Isles shuttle bus stop (about a half mile south of Curry Village).
