  ROMANESQUE HOUSE POREC

Walking through Porec (the Old Town, which is west of the Three Towerrs from the Middle Ages, it became clear to me what a fantastic example of a city built in the Middle Ages this is!
Oned can still recognise a regular, orthogonal ground plan of Roman Urban Planners.

Also the names of the streets bear wittness of Roman influence, what to think of a street with the name DECUMANUS and CARLO MAXIMUS.....these names I saw in ITALY, WHEN VISITING POMPEI AND HERCULANEUM (SEE THESE PAGES IF YOU ARE INTERESTED....ROME PAGE??)

Surprise after surprise here in Porec!

This Romanesque house in the picture is a building from the 13th Century.
It stands at a point where Decumanus street meets the Marafor Square (Forum).

It has a magnificent wood balcony, Romanesque biforium and monolithic archivolt: things that are breathtaking.....

Never had I expected to find such a richness here in Croatia........
