"Secession~modern art" Secession Tip by Audrey118

Secession, Vienna: 22 reviews and 38 photos

The Secession is home to the Beethoven Frieze by Klimt. That is at the basement. But when you enter at the first floor, it was a shop on the left which has very good books on Vienna (with good photos - nice for coffee tables) but when you walk into the gallery you have this huge modern art smacked right in front of you. I am not sure if this is a temporary exhibition (i hope) and not a permanent thing. I saw several people hooked on telephone sets hanging on the wall listening to something in Austrian or German....geez - I cannot appreciate this type of art!!! There were also rooms where there is audio visual movies running at specific time.

But for those non modern art appealers like myslef, do not get dismay...there are lots of wonder downstairs to be appreciated...really.

For those Klimt's art lover like myself, you can sit on sofas and look aboe murals of very sensuous and erotic art at the basement called the Beethovenfries.
