"Round trip by bus" Thasos Island Transportation Tip by portwajn

Thasos Island Transportation: 22 reviews and 21 photos

The cheapest way to get around the island is to take a bus. The main road goes more or less along the coast, where most of villages and towns are situated, making a total of 100 km. There are six buses a day that take the full round trip of the island from Thasos to Thasos: half of them clockwise, half - counterclockwise. Add to this a couple of buses that go from Thasos to Limenaria along north-western coast and maybe a one or two in other places. Timetables are frequently (but irregularly) changed. Prices are 7 euros for a full round trip, about 1,5-2 euros for a 20 km trip.
One has to buy a ticket at a local kiosks ("periptero"). There are bus stops, but in clearly visible areas one can stop a bus at any place, stretching an arm above from distance. Do not wave instead - you might be mistaken for a relative or friend by the driver.
