(can't remember): "Amoudara eating places" Crete Island Restaurant Tip by ann_gro

Amoudara is a resort town close to Iraklio. Lots of hotels, the main road is all tavernas and gift shops. We ate out every day so I can recommend my favorites:
1. Moses' tavern. It has the best waiters and the food is outstanding, even though it's delicious everywhere else. They have unforgettable chicken dishes, very nice mossakas, pizzas, dolmadakia - this place was our favorite. The only point against it were the smelly kerosene lamps on tables, sometimes I had an impression of eating kerosene-spiced food.
There's also a fancy-looking tavern with wooden decor just before the place where the sightseeing train stops. The owner sits to talk with evry visitor, a sailor-like looking aged man with good sense of humor. Their food was also quite nice.
Down the road there's a large tavern with animal cages around - there's a parrot cage, a cangaroo, some rabbits - it's all fun but their food was not really eatable. Maybe we had bad luck that day, for the place was rather crowded with locals who seemed to enjoy what they ate.
