This square is named after the greatest Slovene Poet, FRANCE PRESEREN (1800 - 1849) .
Hos poetry is a symbol of longing for freedom and love, which is why one of his poems, "ZDRAVLIJICA / A TOAST " is now the national anthem.

In the autumn of 1905 his monument was unveiled the sculptor was Ivan Zajc.

The square, based on the Italian model, is dominated by the ornamental fašade of the Franciscan Church.

This was built between 1646 and 1660.

When there is no service going on it is great to enter and visit the church.
The famous Francesco ROBBA, a sculptor, created the great Altar about mid-18th Century.
The vaults have been painted and repainted more than once.

Stroll around, sit on the steps in front of this church and take some time off to observe the passers-by, always nice......and perhaps taking a picture i.e. when these 3 ladies have found out HOW Darja's nieuw DIGITAL camera is working and that is not so easy as it seems to be.......
