While there is so much life and vibrancy to see in Phnom Penh, death is, and must be, the number one sight. And the best place to start your tour of death is the Tuol Sleng Prison/Museum.

Originally a high school in the southern reaches of the city, Tuol Sleng became the notorious S-21 detention center, where the Khmer Rouge imprisoned, tortured, and sentenced thousands of Cambodians.

The setting now is almost serene, with palm trees shading the silent concrete buildings. It is only by entering the center that you can catch of glimpse of the horrors witnessed by these walls.
