  Queluz Palace
by santax

Queluz is a plain dull suburb outside Lisbon but it does have one of the country's most romantic sights, the magnificant Queluz Palace.
It was the residence of the royal family in the 18th century and is still used today in official government meetings, as was the case when U.S. president Bill Clinton visited Portugal on an official visit in June of 2000(the palace was even featured on the cover of the 'New York Times' ). It really is beautiful, known for its magnificent rooms and Versailles-like gardens.

Directions: Take the Sintra train, getting off at Queluz-Belas station and walk for about 10 minutes to the palace (follow the signs).
