Mariahilfkirche, Innsbruck: 2 reviews and 2 photos
And if you can pronounce it, you're either of Germanic origin or a whole lot better than me!
This photo is more about Johann Paul Schor. In 1640 he travelled to Rome where this famous altarpiece for the Mariahilfkirche, "Virgin and child surrounded by angels" (1647) was begun.
In 1654 he joined the Academia di S. Luca and from 1656 to 1674, being the best-known German-speaking artist in Rome, was employed by the Vatican though he also worked for other important patrons.
His most notable works were decorative such as designs for festivals and the theatre or sedan chairs and pomp state coaches (e.g. for the entrance of Queen Christina of Sweden into Rome in 1655); liturgical objects, mitres (for the coronation of Pope Clement X), furniture and Stucco ceilings.
