"Gargoyle Photography at Notre Dame" Notre Dame de Paris Tip by Confucius
Notre Dame de Paris, Paris: 652 reviews and 1,336 photos
I have a hunch you'll be back at Notre Dame if you didn't get any good gargoyle photos during your first visit to Paris. It's fun! There are so many funny angles you can play with and create humorous pictures. I discovered it's kind of hard to have other people pose with the gargoyles however, because almost all of them are out on a narrow ledge and it's too dangerous to crawl around on the roof trying to get in the photo.
Most tourists think Notre Dame is visible from anywhere in Paris. Americans often find themselves falling back on their high school French but sometimes get it mixed up with collegiate pronunciation, perhaps saying "Ou est Noter Dayme?" to some bemused French mime on the street.
Don't forget to walk around to the back of Notre Dame too, where there are more good views of the striking architecture including the famous "flying buttresses" . I forgot to do so in 1992 but made another trip to Notre Dame in May 2006 just to see what I missed 14 years ago.
