"Roskilde" Denmark Things to Do Tip by Sjalen

Denmark Things to Do: 372 reviews and 739 photos

Not the oldest city in Denmark but still one of the most important and a real gem. The cathedral is on the World Heritage list and contains the tombs of the Danish royals throughout times. Below the hill is the harbour where you have a nice atmosphere with the hostel, restaurants and most importantly, the Viking Ship Museum, since the Roskilde fjord was once blocked by viking ships which were sunk to stop invaders. The remains of these ships have now been brought to the museum where new boats are also built. I have a Roskilde page, for those of you who want more information, as this is one of my favourite Danish town so far and that's without having been to the famous rock festival which takes place every July!

Directions: On the local commuter map from Copenhagen and only half an hour away by S-train or most national trains involving Copenhagen.
