Castle of knight Gotz von Berlichingen high above the romantic valley of the Neckar river
Castle Hornberg, an 11th-century knight´s castle, stands proudly amid the vineyards high above the romantic valley of the River Neckar.
For many centuries it was a fief of the Bishop of Speyer. In 1517 Hornberg was purchased by Goetz von Berlichingen and became his only residence. He spent 45 years of his eventful life here and died in 1562.
His grandson sold the castle in 1612 to the Barons of Gemmingen, of whom the twelfth generation still own it today.
In 1953 a hotel and restaurant were opened in the former stables, maintaining all the authentic, unmistakable charm of Castle Hornberg and its romantic setting.
This attractive contrast between past and present will not fail to delight you.
The castle grounds and the splendid surroundings are a permanent invitation to walk in the countryside or make excursions farther afield.

With its splendid combination of quality and tradition the Castle Hornberg hotel and restaurant is ideal for conferences (3 conference rooms available), family celebrations, anniversaries, staff outings, receptions and similar events (4 rooms) and even weddings (which can be held in the Forest Chapel).
