"HAVANA : MALECON" Cuba Things to Do Tip by swesn
Cuba Things to Do: 396 reviews and 710 photos
A great way to experience Havana street life is to take a stroll along the Malecon or sea-wall, especially during the evening sun-set. It stretches 8km from the Castillo de la Punta in Old Havana until another castle at La Chorrera at the end of Vedado.
There are many chidren across the wall on the rocks along the Malecon, swimming or just playing in the water. There are romancing couples catching the light breeze. There are peanut-and-plastic-flower sellers. There might be a few people playing the saxophone. There are families taking walks. There are bored women looking out of the balconies from the houses opposite. Wonderful place to people-watch.
At the start of Vedado, you will see the famous Hotel Nacional which has quite a nice, nostalgic atmosphere.
