Mucha achieved immediate fame in 1894 when he accepted an invitation to create a poster for Sarah Bernhardt, one of the greatest actresses of the time. Mucha was then a relatively unknown artist living in Paris, but then and there “The Mucha Style” was born, which was essential in shaping the Art Nouveau design of the day.
