  Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond is definitely my favourite Scottish loch. The scenery is just breathtaking if you get a clear day to really enjoy it! I've stopped here a couple of times on the way up north and then spent a whole afternoon driving round the loch just taking photos one day last February. That was the clearest day I had had and the views were stunning.

Loch Lomond is the largest stretch of inland water in the UK and there are numerous spots along the banks where you can stop, take boat rides, photos etc. Balloch is probably the main town and is situated at the southern end of the loch. Its usually very busy and has all the amenities you will need but not in the most picturesque setting. That title is probably reserved for Luss which is almost picture postcard pretty. The western side of the loch is much busier, more towns and villages and a busy road heading north. The eastern side is much quieter but also less geared to tourists.

Definitely not to be missed on a tour of Scotland.

I have now built a Loch Lomond page

Directions: take the A82 north from Glasgow
