Burgplatz at Night, Schlossturm is on the right
by sabsi

Burgplatz is the main square of the old town. Here you will find the Radschläger Fountain, lots of lovely sycamore trees, cafes, the tourist information and the Schlossturm, one of the main parts of Düsseldorf's skyline.

Unlike some people think the Schlossturm was never a lighthouse but it's a remaining part of the old castle which stood here until a big fire in the 19th century. It is now home for a museum about inland waterway transportation (Schifffahrt-Museum).

The square is used for many events in summer. There's a festival going on almost every weekend here. The stairs leading down to the Rhine from here are a popular spot to sit in the evening with a can of beer or a bottle of wine.

Address: Burgplatz, Altstadt
Directions: Walk from tram and subway stop Heinrich Heine Allee.
