"Classes of Busses" Bus Tips Tip by kayzee

Bus Tips, Sri Lanka: 23 reviews and 20 photos

In Sri Lanka there there are Long ditance bus services from Colombo to all the major destinations.

There are 3 types of long distance busses.
1. Normal Bus service
Usually a Big 50-60 seeter buses with No Air Conditions and no limit on number of passangers. (So its very common to see about 100-125 commuters in a 56 seater bus. Not the best wat travel if you are a tourist)
And they stop almost all the towns and cities that it pass by.

2. Semi-Luxury or Intercity
These busses are loaded only to the Seat capasity. Stop only in major cities and for re-freshments.

Usually 26-30 Seater mini-busses. The cost is around 1.5 times twise the normal fare.

Most of them have advanced booking facilities. Usually you cannot book few days in advance, just 5-6 hours in advance.

3. Luxury-Air Conditioned.
Very similer to Semi Luxuries. But the busses are air conditioned. and the cost is about twise to 3 times the normal price.

When you select the bus make sure the bius has a working AC and the interior is Ok. In some of these busses the A/C is not working properly.
