  Pamukkale Travertine's
by Erkmen

Take off your shoes and walk inside the pools. In front you will see the City Denizli and a wonderful landscape. And wonder how these has all happened.

The tectonic movements that took place in the fault depression of the Menderes valley gave rise to the very hot springs, and it is the water from one of these springs, with its large mineral content, chalk in particular, that has created the natural wonder now known as Pamukkale.

The temperature of the water forming the travertine?s, falls to around 33 C lower down. The beds of the watercourses are filled up with these limestone deposits and the water, confronted with these obstacles, splits up into several branches. The water flows over the slopes into pools, the small basins surrounding them and finally into the fields below. And forms the Cotton castle (Pamukkale)

There is also an Amphitheater and some ruins of ancient city Hierapolis in Pamukkale and one very nice thing to do is to swim in a fine spa-center with its warm pools in nearby hotels.

Address: Pamukkale- Denizli
Directions: Pamukkale is located in the Aegean region at a distance of 20 km from Denizli And nearly 3-4 Hrs from Izmir.
