Fort McHenry, site of the siege that inspired The Star-Spangled Banner
The fort that guards Baltimore Harbour from marauding British ships, Fort McHenry was beseiged during the war of 1812 (the Napoleonic Wars, some might say) by a few of these aforementioned marauding British ships. A young chap named Frances Scott Key somehow got himself captured and watched the battle from the deck of a British ship. He watched as the fort was bombarded again and again throughout the night until dawn came and lo! the flag was still flying over the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The fort itself is fairly well preserved, as I recall, and gives tremendous views of the harbour and the bay.
