My hotel room at the Royal Olympic was in fact overlooking TEMPLE OF OLYMPIAN ZEUS. It was close to walk too but due to the hot sun & the dusty road, I decided to head for Plaka instead. Don't think I regretted that decision. But for those who are interested, you might be interested to know that this is the largest in Greece, even bigger than the Parthenon. However, it was a temple which started construction in 6th century BC but not completed until 650 years later! Boy, productivity didn't exist in those days???

Hadrian dedicated this temple in AD 132 to Zeus Olympios. Zeus was the father of the gods who ruled over all gods & mortals from Mount Olympos! The Greek has so many God & Goddesses that it'll take some time to get used to their roles :-)

While I'm at it, here are some of the more prominent ones:
Poseidon is one of Zeus's brother. He controls the seas.
Athena, daughter of Zeus.
Apollo, son of Zeus. Brother of Artemis, God of Healing & Music.
Artemis, daughter of Zeus & sister of Apollo. Goddess of Childbirth & Virgin Goddess of the Hunt. Contradictory, isn't it? ;-)
Hermes, Gods' messenger.
Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Eros (Cupid) is her son :-)
