"LANGMUSI : REMOTE TIBETAN VILLAGE" China Off The Beaten Path Tip by swesn
China Off The Beaten Path: 138 reviews and 162 photos
Langmusi is a little Tibetan village with only mud streets and surrounded by breath-taking mountains.
Mostachioed Tibetan men with wild hair, mod-1970s sun shades, yak-coats with faux leopard, tiger or zebra-printed material on the inside walk around or ride on their motor-cycles, looking like thugs but they are oh-so-friendly.
There are two Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in this village. I was with a friend and we spent our days lusting after the handsome and hunky monks.
One temple holds the UNDECOMPOSED body of a Lama who died in 1800s. The 11th reincarnation of this Lama is now residing in India.
SKY BURIALS (where dead bodies are brought to a hill, carved open for the vultures to tear open the meat) are still practised here.
The tiny village has an amazing atmosphere.
