Vater Rhein ... hanging around the castle park

Hortus Palatinus is the name of the gardens around the castle. They used to be named "8th world wonder" - with all the water fountains and grottos they must have been pretty impressive back then.

Actually they are still impressive. I especially liked the statue of Father Rhine "Vater Rhein" in one corner of the park. Unfortunately I have no idea why there is a statue for the river Rhine at the river Neckar though.

The entrance to the gardens is free.
