"Visit the Stock Exchange Building" Old Town + Cathedral - Casco Viejo & El Arenal Tip by DanielF

Bilbao was the second Spanish city to have a Stock Exchange after Madrid., dating back as early as 1890. When the exchange was founded, it did not even have a seat, and the first session was held in the Arriaga Theatre. It was then moved to the New Square, then to the Banco de Bilbao Building and, finally, a specific building was erected for this purpose on the left bank of the river, near Navarra Street.

The building is an early 20th century work of Enrique Epalza in the monumental eclectic style. The interior, however, has been totally renovated and presents a contemporary look.
